The cloth cover for the spine was damaged,  measures were taken to protect both the book block and the cover itself. The book has been rebacked using toned linen, carefully selected to match the original material. This process not only reinforces the structure of the book but also preserves its aesthetic integrity, ensuring that it remains stable and functional for future handling and use.

Some loose pages were also rehinged back into the book structure using Japanese tissue.

List of Treatment Performed:

  1. Dry Cleaning with smoke sponge and rubber erasers

  2. Rebacked the cloth cover using linen

  3. Toned and match the colour of the linen

  4. Paste Down the original book cloth

  5. Rehinged the loose pages using the same Japanese tissue
